Direct Admissions

Brooklyn College is accepting applications from freshmen and transfer students for direct admission to Brooklyn College for the spring 2010 semester beginning Tuesday, December 1 until Monday, December 14. During this period, we can only accept applications from students who were educated in the United States. Unfortunately, we will not be able to process applications for applicants who were educated abroad. Students who were educated abroad should file for the fall 2010 semester on the CUNY website.

Our office hours for direct admission are Monday, Thursday, and Friday: 10 a.m.–3:30 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday: 10 a.m–5:30 p.m. We will only accept applications during these periods. The Admissions Office is located in the West Quad Center, 2nd

Freshman (never before attended college) Admissions Requirements:
Regular freshmen with a minimum overall academic average of 81%, and a minimum combined SAT score of 1000 (critical reading and math score) will be admitted. GED recipients with a minimum score of 3000 will be admitted. In addition, students must have completed at least 14 academic units with a total of 5 units in mathematics and English, but no less then 2 units in either. In addition to meeting the above requirements students, must be exempt from the City University of New York (CUNY) Assessment Tests in reading, writing, and mathematics at the senior college level. See the box below.

Freshmen applicants must submit the following by December 14:

  • An official high school transcript from your high school in a sealed envelope or mailed from your high school to: Brooklyn College, Direct Admissions, Office of Admissions, 2900 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11210.
  • Student or High School SAT or ACT score report.
  • GED recipients must submit their diploma and scores.
  • Application fee of $65, which is nonrefundable and may be paid by credit card, check or money order payable to UAPC.

Transfer Admissions Requirements:

  • Transfer students with less than 25 credits completed at the time of application must also meet our freshmen requirements and submit their high school documentation as part of the application process. In addition, the student’s completed college work must have an overall GPA of 2.0.
  • Transfer students with 25 or more credits completed at the time of application and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.3 will be admitted.
  • Students who have been awarded an associate’s degree from a CUNY college with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 will be admitted.
  • Students who have been awarded a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 will be admitted.
  • In addition to meeting the above requirements, students who have not been awarded a bachelor’s degree must also be exempt from the City University of New York Assessment Tests in reading, writing and mathematics at senior college levels. See CUNY Assessment Test Exemption Information below.

Transfer applicants must submit the following by December 14:
Application fee of $70 is nonrefundable and may be paid by credit card, check or money order payable to UAPC. The application fee is waived for CUNY students with courses in progress at the time of application.

Applicants who have completed less than 25 credits must submit official high school transcript and SAT or ACT scores, or GED scores and diploma.

NON-CUNY Transfers must submit their official transcripts in a sealed envelope or have their official transcripts mailed to: Brooklyn College, Direct Admissions, Office of Admissions, 2900 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11210.

Current or prior CUNY students do not have to provide their CUNY transcripts. If you attend or have attended a CUNY college and have no delinquencies, you do not have to request a transcript. For admissions purposes only, we will retrieve your transcript for you.
