Timothy Shortell

I am trained as a social psychologist and research methodologist/statistician. I am the author of a content coding software application, SemioCode. I program in C, Perl, Java, and R, among others. I am also a visual artist and musician. I have been at Brooklyn College since 1997.

Areas of Expertise:
My research interests include social semiotics, American public discourse, and visual ethnography of urban neighborhoods. My teaching interests include research methods, visual sociology, and the sociology of science and technology. I am currently working on a project modeling the contentious public sphere.
