Student organizations are the backbone of co-curricular activities and campus life. There are approximately one hundred active student organizations on the Brooklyn College campus, including academic clubs, cultural and social organizations, and fraternities and sororities.

The Center for Student Development and Leadership Programs, Clubs, and Organizations, located in Room 302 of the Student Center, oversees and promotes students’ involvement in these organizations, as well as in leadership classes and other co-curricular campus activities.

Student clubs and organizations serve more than 15,000 Brooklyn College students from different ethnic backgrounds and with many diverse interests—from the Brooklyn Chess Club to the Chinese Language and Culture Club, the Health and Nutrition Science Club, and Ma Nishma, a group of Jewish a Capella vocalists who sing music “ranging from doo-wop to Hebrew Renaissance.”

Students from all academic disciplines may also participate in the student media groups, which include three student newspapers—Kingsman, Excelsior, and Nightcall—and Brooklyn College Radio, WBCR, which plays alternative rock in addition to metal and urban music.
