Jason Frydman is Associate Professor of English at Brooklyn College and has directed the Caribbean Studies Interdisciplinary Program. His work attends to the often hidden ways Caribbean history and culture resonate globally. Prof. Frydman has recent articles on oceans, archipelagoes, and world literature; Muslim slave narratives in the Americas; reggae and dancehall in the Cold War; Kafka's debts to New World slavery; and narco-culture in the circum-Caribbean. He has written one book, Sounding the Break: African American and Caribbean Routes of World Literature (Virginia, 2014), and published articles on Peter Abrahams, Edward Wilmot Blyden, Abdulrazak Gurnah, Marlon James, Junot Díaz, Patricia Powell, Zora Neale Hurston, Maryse Condé, Juan Gelman, Mayra Santos-Febres, and Sandra Cisneros.
