The evening will feature delicious food\, lively music\, and a joyful atmosphere that brings our campus together in celebration of culture\, community\, and solidarity. \nWe are proud to welcome New York City Council Members Tiffany Cabán and Alexa Avilés as special guests\, who will share inspiring remarks and join us in recognizing the importance of Latinx heritage and leadership. \nThis kickoff is co-sponsored by the Department of Puerto Rican and Latinx Studies\, Black and Latino Male Initiative\, Student Activities\, Involvement\, and Leadership\, and the Immigrant Student Success Office. \nThis event is an opportunity to celebrate Latinx identity\, connect with peers and campus leaders\, enjoy food and music\, and be inspired by those leading positive change in our community. DESCRIPTION:This workshop continues the conversation on constitutional rights\, focusing on what individuals need to know while in transit to Brooklyn College\, in the surrounding area\, and on campus. Participants will learn what is considered a public space\, what rights apply in different settings\, and how to safely navigate interactions with law enforcement. The session will also provide practical guidance on how individuals and their families can prepare for a potential law enforcement encounter.
