SUMMARY:Protocols for Opacity: Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:“Protocols for Opacity” is a group exhibition of artists whose practices examine ways of resisting visibility as a form of protest against today’s corporatized digital landscape. In a culture that compulsively shares images and texts\, these artists embrace the power of withholding\, interrogating the status quo through abstraction and opacity. Featuring works by Zainab Aliyu\, Elliott Jerome Brown Jr.\, Raphaël Fabre\, Persephone Beatrice Hua\, Juwon Jun\, Sam Lavigne\, Eva and Franco Mattes\, Osman Baran Özdemir\, Tom Pretty\, Tabita Rezaire\, Molly Soda\, Sputniko!\, and Carrie Sijia Wang\, the exhibition invites reflections on how we relate to ourselves and others under conditions of perpetual visibility\, and how refusing legibility can become an act of agency. The exhibition will run throughout the fall semester and winter intersession during Art Gallery hours.

SUMMARY:The Revolutionists by Lauren Gunderson
DESCRIPTION:Directed by Colleen Morgen\nOctober 3–4\, 6–7  at 7:30 p.m. and October 4 at 2 p.m.\nNew Workshop Theater \nIn a time of revolution\, four women—one an activist playwright\, one an assassin\, one a queen\, and one a Haitian spy—face the chaos of the French Revolution. With wit\, bravery\, and a healthy dose of humor\, they question how to fight for freedom in a world that wants to silence them.
