SUMMARY:Buddhist Self-Knowledge Practices: The Sheila and Wilbur Liebson Ethics Colloquium
DESCRIPTION:In this presentation\, viewing Buddhism from a self-knowledge standpoint\, Professor of Philosophy Christopher W. Gowans (Fordham University) will examine a variety of Buddhist practices—ethical\, philosophical\, and meditative—as these practices have been understood in the traditional “path” approaches (Buddhist practice as a path from suffering to an enlightened life of tranquility and compassion) and the rather different “exploration” approach that emerges in Chan and Zen Buddhism (Buddhist practice as expressing and exploring what it means not to be a self). Among Gowan’s publications is Self-Cultivation Philosophies in Ancient India\, Greece\, and China (Oxford University Press\, 2021).

SUMMARY:Out! on the Quad: LGBTQ+ Resource Fair
DESCRIPTION:Out! On the Quad is a resource fair hosted by the LGBTQ+ Resource Center. Dozens of organizations that support the LGBTQ+ community in various ways will be present to educate on what services are offered. Resources include health services\, on-campus services\, housing services\, internships\, legal services\, and more. Last year\, more than 30 vendors were on the Quad to inform the community on what resources and services are accessible. Come and meet with the representatives of the various organizations while enjoying games and prizes as well! \nIn case of rain\, we will move the fair to the Gold and Maroon rooms on the sixth floor of the Student Center.
