SUMMARY:2nd Annual CUNY-Wide Vogue Ball: Tailoring Black Style
DESCRIPTION:The Brooklyn College LGBTA and the LGBTQ+ Resource Center will be hosting our 2nd Annual CUNY-Wide Vogue Ball. This year’s theme will be “Dandyism: Tailoring Black Style\,” inspired by the 2025 Met Gala and exhibit titled “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” \nThe Vogue Ball\, 5–8 p.m.\, will feature several categories for participants to dip\, twirl\, spin\, and show off your best face. Judges will determine who will take home the prizes! Food will be served. Beginner-friendly categories include Face\, Runway\, Performance\, Realness\, and Fashion. \nPrior to the ball\, from 3 to 5 p.m.\, there will be a resource fair with internal partners and external organizations. Come learn about different services provided by Brooklyn College and community organizations. \nThe “ballroom scene” is a vibrant subculture within the LGBTQ+ community\, born in the underground New York City scene. Historically\, these spaces served as safe havens for LGBTQ+ people of color. Through extravagant performances and fashion\, LGBTQ+ people challenged societal norms on gender and sexuality through fashion and gender expression. \nThe ball is for CUNY students\, staff\, and faculty only\, and a reservation is required\, as space is limited. RSVP does not guarantee entry after 6:30 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:Lavender Graduation is a celebration\, a declaration\, and a refusal to be erased. It honors LGBTQIA+ students who have navigated academic institutions that were not always built with them in mind—students who have excelled\, led\, and fought for their right to exist unapologetically. This ceremony is both a milestone and an acknowledgment of the barriers these students have overcome and the futures they are forging. The event will feature a keynote address\, entertainment\, and a reception\, bringing together students\, faculty\, families\, and community members in an atmosphere of joy\, solidarity\, and recognition. \nA Lavender graduate is anyone who is graduating from college and identifies as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
