Anderson and Provost April Bedford in partnership with the Magner Career Center\, the Career Champion Breakfast will recognize and celebrate full-time faculty and adjuncts who integrate career readiness into their classroom. The breakfast will feature a keynote discussion by Rajeev Darolia\, Ph.D.\, Wendell H. Ford Professor of Public Policy and Economics\, University of Kentucky\, and Former Chief Economist\, U.S. Department of Education\, on “The Future of Higher Education and Workforce Alignment\,” which will explore:\n \n\nhow national and state policy changes are reshaping the workforce and what these shifts mean for higher education;\ninsights into the ways institutions can align with evolving employer expectations; and\nhow higher education can position students for career success in response to workforce demands.\n\nComplete the recommendation form\, for yourself or a colleague.

Matthews Center for Teaching and Learning\, faculty and administrators are invited to a lunch with Niesha Taylor\, the first director of career readiness at the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE)\, leading the association’s career readiness strategy and initiatives. Previously\, she served as senior director for career pathways at the New York Jobs CEO Council and as dean for academic innovation and career success at Guttman Community College. She earned her doctorate in linguistics from the CUNY Graduate Center and her master’s in education from the New School for Social Research. She is also a former Brooklyn College colleague who oversaw the First Year Initiative/Learning Communities. \n

It offers a rare space for queer and trans educators to connect\, learn\, and imagine new possibilities for education. \nThis year’s Institute features George M. Johnson\, award-winning author of All Boys Aren’t Blue and We Are Not Broken. Johnson will share insights from their work at the intersections of race\, gender\, sexuality\, and education. \nHighlights include: \n\nA keynote address by George M. Johnson\nWorkshops on storytelling\, restorative practices\, embodied movement\, and strategies for sustaining LGBTQ+ educators in today’s political climate\nOpportunities for networking\, mentorship\, and collaboration across generations of educators\nSpace to build community with others navigating the challenges and joys of teaching while LGBTQ+.\n\nThe PE Institute is co-sponsored by the the Brooklyn College LGBTQ+ Resource Center\, Brooklyn College School of Education\, and Center for LGBTQ Studies at the CUNY Graduate Center.
