Rosen Fellowship
The Rosen Fellowship is not just about academics—it’s about exploration, creativity, and bold ideas. It empowers students to design their own learning journey, whether that means traveling, researching, creating art, or launching a project. You don’t need a perfect transcript to apply. What matters most is your idea, your drive, and your story.
Dream
Have a dream project that doesn’t fit into a traditional academic box? The Rosen Fellowship is designed to support unconventional, self-directed experiences. Whether you want to investigate Icelandic mythology, study architecture in Japan, or explore your heritage in Ghana, this fellowship can make it happen.
Explore
The fellowship encourages students to step off the beaten path—physically, intellectually, and emotionally. Past fellows have traveled across the globe, but others have stayed local and created transformative experiences.
Discover
This is a chance to explore your identity, interests, and aspirations in a way that’s deeply personal. The Rosen Fellowship is about growth, curiosity, and courage—qualities that shape not just scholars, but leaders.
Connect
Rosen Fellows often connect with mentors, communities, and networks that extend far beyond Brooklyn College. The experience can open doors to future fellowships, graduate programs, and careers.
Past Projects
Previous Rosen Fellows have explored a range of interests, including:
- Learning to cobble shoes in Argentina
- Starting a granola bar company
- Traveling to South Africa to study the effects of HIV treatment on child development
- Learning to sculpt glass
- Traveling across the U.S. to collect data and knowledge within the urban agriculture movement
- Producing, marketing and distributing a comic book
“I fly to the west coast at the end of May, first to make field recordings at a fire tower in Oregon and then working with those recordings to produce songs with other musicians in Los Angeles. My flights are booked, the car is rented, and I'm furiously reaching out and making plans with collaborators. I am incredibly excited, both for the music I will produce and for the experience itself.”
