As an African American studies minor, you will study the people of African descent in the United States. Courses cover a wide range of topics across African-American history and political science; literature, culture, and the arts; and society and the economy.
Declaring a minor allows you to explore other areas of interest and make interdisciplinary connections, and minors complement your major. By declaring a minor, you can set yourself apart as a candidate for job opportunities inside academia, the arts, politics, medicine, and state and municipal governmental agencies as well as international nonprofits and social justice organizations.

A program of 15 credits, nine of which must be advanced electives in Africana studies. Each course must be completed with a grade of C or higher. Students must complete 1 and 2 below.
