Learning another language is one of the most valuable skills you will ever possess. As a minor in Chinese translation, you will be able to facilitate communication between English and Chinese speakers. This program will increase your knowledge and understanding of the Chinese world and enhance your chosen major with international perspectives.

Where You'll Go

Declaring a minor allows you to explore other areas of interest and make interdisciplinary connections, and minors complement your major. By declaring a minor, you can set yourself apart as a candidate for job opportunities in international affairs, business, government, and teaching, and you can pursue a graduate degree in a variety of fields. The minor in Chinese will demonstrate your competence in a foreign language and culture, which is vital to employment in today’s global economy.

Minor Requirements (15 Credits)

  • CHIN 2030W Advanced Language Skills 2
  • CHIN 3260 Literary Translation
  • CHIN 3240 Translation for the Professions
  • Two other Chinese courses numbered above 2021.

All the courses used to meet these degree requirements must be completed with a grade of C or higher.
