Learning another language is one of the most valuable skills you will ever possess. As a minor in Chinese translation, you will be able to facilitate communication between English and Chinese speakers. This program will increase your knowledge and understanding of the Chinese world and enhance your chosen major with international perspectives.
Declaring a minor allows you to explore other areas of interest and make interdisciplinary connections, and minors complement your major. By declaring a minor, you can set yourself apart as a candidate for job opportunities in international affairs, business, government, and teaching, and you can pursue a graduate degree in a variety of fields. The minor in Chinese will demonstrate your competence in a foreign language and culture, which is vital to employment in today’s global economy.
The program information listed here reflects the approved curriculum for the 2025–26 academic year per the Brooklyn College Bulletin. Bulletins from past academic years can be found here.
