Program Overview

By declaring a minor in statistics, you will obtain an understanding of the concepts of statistical inference and a familiarity with the methods of applied statistical analysis. Through the statistics minor, you can participate in statistical analysis in the business or engineering worlds. This minor especially complements majors in the social and natural sciences, and will greatly enhance your preparedness for graduate study in fields involving quantitative analysis.

Where You'll Go

Declaring a minor allows you to explore other areas of interest and make interdisciplinary connections. With a background and training in statistics, you can set yourself apart as a candidate in professions such as data science, statistical programming, clinical research, neuroimaging data analysis, and many more. This minor also prepares you for graduate studies in statistics or in one of many areas where data analysis plays an important role.

Minor Requirements (12 Credits)

At least three courses (12 credits) from the following list of advanced electives in Mathematics: Mathematics 32024501450645114701.

Prerequisite for entry to the minor: Mathematics 2101 and 2201 with a grade of C- or higher.

All courses offered to satisfy the requirements for a minor in statistics must be completed at Brooklyn College with a grade of C-or higher.

Statistics minors should check the bulletin to see which of these courses are sequenced together, and consult with department counselors for recommendations.
