The Accuplacer ESL is a computer-based test that helps determine the best English courses for students who are learning English. Your test results will help place you in the right level so you can get the support you need to do well in your classes. ESL applicants who do not meet CUNY’s English proficiency requirements are required to take the Accuplacer ESL test.
The results of the test will be used to assess proficiency and appropriate course placement.
Students who achieve a composite score of 105 or higher will meet CUNY’s proficiency requirement and be eligible to enroll in ENGL. 1010.
Students with a composite score below 105 will be placed in the appropriate ESL class to ensure they receive additional support to help them succeed at Brooklyn College.

A score report will be available for students upon completion of the tests.
Accommodations based on disabilities will be granted to comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Students who wish to request such accommodations should consult with the Center for Student Disability Services prior to scheduling their test.
