The Brooklyn College exchange program with Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) is open to all students with at least 45 completed credits and, preferably, a background of three to four semesters college-level Spanish or the equivalent. Exchange placements are limited and are competitive among applicants from all majors. Students selected for this program will have the unique opportunity to study for a semester or a year in Spain while paying the same tuition they pay at CUNY. Students will cover their roundtrip airfare, visa, insurance, and onsite living costs. Students will live and take classes at the UAB campus in Bellaterra, Spain. Coursework is available in Catalan, Spanish, and English.

Most courses at UAB are taught in Spanish and Catalan. However, some courses are also available in English.
Spanish-language courses are available to exchange students at the UAB Idiomes Barcelona, the language school of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. All Spanish professors speak English. For more information and for a schedule of courses, send an email.
Welcome Week: International Welcome Days usually take place at the beginning of each term.
Semesters usually end earlier, but there are a few weeks dedicated to finals (depending on your classes).
Estimated Semester Cost (besides CUNY tuition): $6,600–$9,600

Students participating in the BC-UAB exchange program are responsible for securing their own student visas. This process should begin three months before the date of departure. Students should consult with the Spanish Consulate of New York.
Note that you will not be able to change your visa in Spain. The only valid visa is the one obtained from the Spanish Embassy or Consulate before entering Spain.
Once students have entered Spain, they are required to obtain the Student Residence Card for Foreigners. The card is valid for a maximum of one academic year. The Welcome Point of the UAB will assist you in securing your Student Residence Card.
The UAB International Support Service (ISS) helps students with their registration and visa-related procedures as well as other needs they may have when settling into Barcelona and the UAB.
