Secondary Education
The Secondary Education (SEED) Department’s teacher preparation programs are grounded in collaboration, critical self-reflection, diversity, and urban school reform. Guided by a social justice framework, our programs aim to improve the quality of classroom practice in secondary schools while advocating for youth, families, and policies that support effective, equitable, and transformative teaching and learning. SEED programs integrate deep content knowledge with clinical field experiences and a foundational study of the social contexts of education, adolescent development, learning theory, and pedagogy. We support the growth of educators who are dedicated to creating classrooms where all students can flourish and succeed.
