When you major in business management, you may choose from five minors, including corporate social responsibility. This minor complements a program in business management because you will learn how companies can be socially accountable to themselves, their stakeholders, and the public. Companies that emphasize social responsibility give back to the community and support ethical practices, which can help earn them a good reputation and increased revenue. This program is an interdepartmental minor for students, offered by the Department of Business Management and the Department of Philosophy.
Declaring a minor allows you to explore other areas of interest and make interdisciplinary connections, and minors complement your study of business management. By declaring a minor, you can set yourself apart as a candidate for job opportunities in business management across industries. Corporate social responsibility is often incorporated into a company’s business decisions, mission, and marketing. If corporate social responsibility is important to you for your next job, look for how companies implement social responsibility, such as annual contributions to community causes, including matching gifts, company-run charitable groups, and donating a percentage of product sales to charity.
The program information listed here reflects the approved curriculum for the 2025–26 academic year per the Brooklyn College Bulletin. Bulletins from past academic years can be found here.
