By declaring a minor in Latin American studies, you will get to explore your interest in Latinx arts, culture, history, literature, and society. This interdisciplinary minor between the Puerto Rican and Latinx Studies Department and the social sciences allows you to choose courses from a range of departments, from history to anthropology to political science.
Declaring a minor allows you to make interdisciplinary connections and expand your academic studies beyond your major. With a minor in Latin American studies, you can set yourself apart as a candidate in professions in government, the nonprofit sector, public and private schools and universities, and education, to name a few.

An interdisciplinary and social science-based minor in Latin American studies, offered by the Department of Puerto Rican and Latinx Studies in collaboration with faculty from other social science departments, requiring 15 to 16 advanced credits, each completed with a grade of C or higher.
Courses presented for this minor may not be counted toward the major in any of the participating departments.
At least nine credits must be completed at Brooklyn College. Students should confer with a departmental adviser to plan an appropriate sequence of courses.
