Daniel J. Vázquez Sanabria ’21, a graduate of Brooklyn College’s Puerto Rican and Latinx studies and art history programs, has been awarded a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship in Puerto Rican studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
A former Mellon Mays Fellow and participant in the Mellon Transfer Student Research Program, Vázquez Sanabria built a strong record of interdisciplinary research, cultural scholarship, and community engagement during his time at Brooklyn College. The selection for this highly competitive fellowship reflects both Vázquez Sanabria’s scholarly accomplishments and the impact of the mentorship and research opportunities that were received.
At the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Vázquez Sanabria will continue advancing research in Puerto Rican studies, contributing to critical conversations on history, culture, identity, and social justice.
