Brooklyn College President Michelle J. Anderson welcomed New York State Assemblymember Alicia Hyndman (D-29), who serves as Chair of the New York State Assembly Committee on Higher Education, to campus on October 15 for a meaningful discussion on the future of public higher education, as well as critical issues impacting students, faculty, and the broader community. The conversation focused on several key priorities, including expanding access to higher education, modernizing campus infrastructure, and strengthening pathways to student success. Held on the Brooklyn College campus, the meeting underscored the shared commitment of college leadership and state policymakers to advance public education in New York. “Our students represent the next generation of New York’s leaders, innovators, and educators,” said President Anderson. “We are grateful for the continued support from the state to ensures every student, regardless of background, has the opportunity to thrive.” The dialogue also explored legislative goals for the upcoming session, such as increased funding for student support services, professional development opportunities for faculty, and initiatives to upgrade learning environments across campuses.
