What did you study at Brooklyn College?

I transferred to Brooklyn College with an associate degree to further my education by earning a bachelor’s degree in business with a focus in marketing. This year, I have completed the graduate program, earning a Master of Science in business administration. It has been quite a journey!

Tell us more about your Caribbean roots and how they have impacted your life.

I am the first generation of my family that was born in America. Both of my parents came from the Caribbean with the hope of excelling here. I am also the first person in my family to earn a master’s degree, and I could not have achieved this without the love, encouragement, and support that my parents have given me. They have instilled strong values of perspective, hope, and fearlessness in me. Without these virtues, I don’t think I could have made it through this journey.

Why did you decide on marketing and advertising?

I think that the ability to create a feeling within someone strong enough to motivate them to act, whether it is to make a purchase, take a trip, or change their lives, is the most thrilling impact you can make. Marketing and advertising is around us every day, and I would love to be a part of that discourse to influence the world. This is truly a passion of mine, and I’m very excited to share my talent with the world.

What were your favorite courses at the Koppelman School of Business?

The two courses I enjoyed the most are Negotiation and Conflict Resolution, and Business Analytics. Both courses were very informative and led by exceptional professors. I learned a lot about myself as a person and gained practical skills for my future career.

What are your favorite memories of Brooklyn College?

Brooklyn College has given me a well-rounded college experience. The professors and staff were so genuine and helpful. I believe that the people I have met along the way have been the most wonderful part of this journey. I have met amazing people and made lifetime friends and connections.

What are your plans for after graduation?

My true goal is to work in marketing, cultivating new ideas, setting trends, and influencing culture. I would love to be a part of a movement that changes the world for the better. I would like to offer people new experiences and make memories. I plan to work for a firm or create my own to help people build these connections.

What advice would you give other students studying at Brooklyn College?

I would love to share that this is the best time to build relationships. Make the effort to meet with your professors and classmates. Do not be hesitant to ask questions. Go to the events held by the college because you really don’t know who you could meet, and it could potentially change your life.
