Events, Trips, and Outdoor Activities

There are four types of BLL activities: walking tours and outings; museum walks and talks; bus trips; and our new addition, ethnic diversity luncheons. Some require pre-registration and are filled on a first-come, first serve basis.

Winter 2026: Trips and Outside Activities

Chase Away the Winter Blues: A Midwinter Tour of the Brooklyn College Campus Landscapt
Friday, Jan.  2, 1 p.m.
Free
Pre-registration is not required for this tour.

As many as half of Brooklynites don’t feel their best during the winter months. Exposure to daylight, even on a cloudy day, helps to restore energy, alertness, and contentment. Join us for this hour-long, outdoor narrated wintertime walk designed to chase away the winter blues. Learn how to maintain a sunny outlook through dark, cold winter days while discovering the trees and plants that enliven the landscape even in the “dead” of winter. The tour goes on in bad weather, but not in a blizzard or otherwise dangerous weather conditions. Dress warmly and wear comfortable shoes. (Please note: this is a nature tour, not a tour of college buildings or services.)

China Institute in America
Wednesday, Jan. 7 , 1:30-3 p.m.
$10, notify the office and make payments to Joel Duckoff via check or Zelle.
Reserve by December 22.

Discover China Through Art, an innovative art education program, provides us with a three part program featuring a docent-led gallery talk, a hands-on art workshop and a slide presentation. The fall exhibition is Metamorphosis: Chinese Imagination and Transformation. It presents 28 contemporary artists of Chinese descent who use experimentation in dynamic and original ways. Across painting, sculpture, photography, animation and installation art, these works by established and emerging artists of different generations and backgrounds create a collective dialogue on themes of impermanence, memory, and reinvention.
