About Us

The Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) at Brooklyn College teaches its members how to take responsibility for themselves and the communities that they are a part of. CSTEP is an inspiring and encouraging program that serves a population that has a history of being underserved. CSTEP is operated by a small professional staff and the students who compose it. The members of the program are recognized as individuals who require attention based on those qualities that make them special. The members learn quickly that they are responsible for their performance and must contribute in some way to the positive performance of their CSTEP peers.

The benefits of being a part of CSTEP are the:

  • individualized attention to students’ progress through professional sculpting and academic monitoring guidance;
  • personal assistance provided for undergraduate success; and
  • awareness, encouragement, and support it prepares its students for career/educational pathways, standardized test preparation, and community involvement.

CSTEP creates an environment of individual goal-setting. Seeking and attaining goals are primary, but there is also a strong emphasis on community building. Personal accomplishments are celebrated, and disappointments are improved upon.

CSTEP is located in 4606 James Hall.
