Let’s Bring Public Renewable Energy to Central Brooklyn!

May 1 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Fighting climate change isn’t just about saving the planet—it’s also an opportunity to make our air and water cleaner, save us money, prevent blackouts, and create high-quality union jobs. The Build Public Renewables Act was passed last year to unleash the potential of the New York Power Authority to lead the state and the nation in a just transition.

Right now, city, state, and federal funding programs are available to help us build a future where we can all thrive. After years of budget cuts and deferred maintenance, the older buildings at Brooklyn College, like so much of CUNY, waste money and energy and need extensive repair and upgrading. And the electric grid surrounding us also needs drastic improvements: Residents of Flatbush and Central Brooklyn disproportionately suffer from power outages even as electric bills keep rising. We have the technologies and funding to solve these problems. Brooklyn College and Flatbush need public support and partnerships to build the clean energy future we deserve.

Join us for a panel conversation with an amazing and diverse array of people working to make this happen—elected officials and state representatives; Brooklyn College students, staff, and faculty; community leaders; and public renewable energy advocates. We’re creating a plan for a healthy, sustainable, thriving future.
