The Making and Un-Making of Columbus Day

Drawing on Michel-Rolph Trouillot’s Silencing the Past, Professor Patricia Antoniello and Associate Professor Naomi Schiller, Anthropology, will explore who has the power to make and remake historical narratives, and specifically the many ways that “the Discovery of America” has been invented and narrated for different ends in different moments.
