Transgender individuals, especially trans women of color, face disproportionately high rates of discrimination, marginalization, and violence. To bring awareness to this ongoing crisis and to honor those who have lost their lives, we invite the Brooklyn College community to join us for Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil. This vigil is not only a solemn commemoration of the lives cut short by transphobic violence but also a powerful reminder of the work that remains to be done in advocating for trans rights and justice.
The vigil will begin in front of Boylan Hall and travel across campus where participants will carry a large trans flag in solidarity. We’ll settle around the lily pond to read aloud the names of those we’ve lost, ensuring their lives are not forgotten. The walk will conclude at the LGBTQ+ Resource Center, where refreshments and support will be provided as the community gathers to reflect, mourn, and commit to creating a safer, more inclusive future for all.
