In Memoriam: Community Members Lost on 9/11
On September 11, 2001, Brooklyn College lost members of its community in the terrorist attacks that forever changed our nation and our city. We remember them not only for the lives they led and the careers they pursued, but for the contributions they made to their communities, their professions, and the Brooklyn College legacy.
Remembering Those Lost on September 11, 2001
Since 2002, Brooklyn College has observed an annual tradition of remembrance each September 11 by tolling the library clocktower bell at 8:46, 9:03, 9:37, 9:59, 10:03, and 10:28 a.m., marking the moments when the attacks unfolded and honoring all those who lost their lives that day.

Community Members
William Guillaume
Served as a Public Safety Officer from 1994 to 2020, as well as an EMT. He participated in the emergency response following the September 11 attacks. He later developed 9/11-related illnesses and died on November 25, 2024.
