Tow Fellowship Program

The Tow Fellowship Program, also known as Preparing Applications for Prestigious Awards and Scholarships (PAPAS), sponsors two workshops a year to advise students on applying for ambitious programs. In particular, we focus on preparing materials for national and international awards, such as the Rhodes, Marshall, and Fulbright scholarships, which offer prestigious foundations for further study and career success.

Now Accepting Applications for Intersession 2026

Deadline: December 1, 2025

Program Overview

This program helps students articulate their professional strengths and goals, and develop skills for communicating their ideas in compelling narratives.

The program meets for several weeks in January (the winter intensive) and for several weeks in late May and June (the summer intensive). High-achieving students are invited to apply to either session.

Successful applicants are awarded stipends to practice crafting personal statements, CVs, and project proposals, and to revise these materials in response to detailed feedback.

Eligibility

Students must be:

  • first-, second-, or third-year Brooklyn College undergraduates at time of application;
  • academically strong; and
  • fulfill eligibility requirements for the applications they choose to pursue.

Application Requirements

Applicants will be required to submit the following:

  • CV
  • Statement of interest
  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form

Accepted applicants will be required to choose five programs on this list of scholarships and awards, for which they will prepare complete applications, and apply to at least one within six months of completing PAPAS.

Note: For the purposes of this program, students do not have to be rising seniors to prepare applications in advance for programs aimed at seniors, such as for the Rhodes, Marshall, and Fulbright scholarships.

Students do not need to secure faculty mentors to participate in PAPAS.

Upon Completion

Participants who successfully complete all program requirements (including full attendance, on-time submission of materials, and thorough revisions incorporating provided feedback) will receive a $2,000 stipend.
