Art as Activism: Understanding AIDS Through Keith Haring and William S. Burroughs’ Apocalypse (World AIDS Day Event)

December 2 @ 12:15 pm - 2:15 pm

World AIDS Day is celebrated every year to commemorate the lives lost and memories of those impacted by HIV and AIDS.

At this panel discussion, Associate Professor Matthew Burgess, Associate Professor Enrique Pouget, and artist Jack Waters will discuss New York in the 1980s and the impact of HIV/AIDS. The primary goal is to introduce students to Keith Haring and William S. Burroughs’ Apocalypse and how these works are a response to the AIDS epidemic while addressing various intersecting issues relevant in 1988. Join us for educational conversation, food, and engagement with the arts.
