Policy Council

The Policy Council serves as an advisory body to the president and a forum for discussing issues and matters of general college concern. Policy Council may also submit recommendations for action as appropriate to the Faculty Council, the Council on Administrative Policy, and the student governments. Policy Council is the body responsible for approving any and all new governance proposals, and ensuring that such amendments meet the standards of the City University of New York and of Brooklyn College. The Policy Council also monitors the functions of legislative and administrative bodies to ensure that no constituent body exceeds its jurisdiction. This council is composed of an equal number of administrators, faculty, and students, and is chaired by the college president.
