The Department of Puerto Rican and Latinx Studies provides students with the critical skills to navigate a diverse and globally interdependent world through the study of Latinx arts, culture, history, literature, economy, and society.
For half a century, the Department of Puerto Rican and Latinx Studies has educated students who have gone on to pursue a wide variety of careers. You will receive a sound interdisciplinary foundation of knowledge through which you come to understand the complex dynamics of contemporary Puerto Rican and Latinx communities. Courses focus on issues in history, immigration, public policy, diasporic community development, cultural transformation, and the Latinx role in shaping U.S. society.
