HM Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences partners with over 200 universities and welcomes a large number of exchange students each semester. Each year, more than 2,500 international students and researchers join the academic community in one of Germany’s most beautiful, historic, and high-tech cities.

Applicants should have:

  • At least one academic year earned prior to exchange application
  • Minimum GPA of 3.00

Choosing Your Coursework

Hochschule München University of Applied Sciences offers a wide variety of coursework in English and German. The course lists from current and past semesters can be found on the bottom of this page.

The course list is subject to change and will be regularly updated. The courses are aligned in order of the departments. You will get a clear list after program acceptance.

Course offerings change every semester, so please be flexible with the courses you may want to take.

Academic Calendar

  • Spring Semester: Beginning of March–June (final exam session runs until the end of July)
  • Fall Semester: End of September–mid-January (final exam session runs from mid-January to mid-February)

Housing

Many students rely on private housing options, including:

  • Flat-shares: $550–$650 per month
  • Privately run residence halls: $450–$650 per month
  • Single apartments: $775–$1,100 per month

Universities in Munich do not operate their own residence halls and cannot directly provide housing for students. However, they do offer support in finding suitable accommodation.

Approximate Costs per Semester

Below is an approximation of the costs each student will spend per semester while abroad in Munich. Note that expenses vary depending on lifestyle.

  • CUNY tuition and fees
  • Housing: $2,800–$4,000
  • Food: $1,000
  • Personal Expenses: $1,000–$2,000
  • Transportation / Communication: $250
  • CISI Travel Insurance ($65 per month): $260
  • German Health Insurance for Non-European Students: $150

Visa Information

To study in Germany for a semester, all U.S. citizens need a Residence Visa with the sub-purpose of studying. To apply, you must first make an appointment with the Consulate General of Germany in New York.
