Tow International Public Health Internship

The Tow International Public Health Internship provides hands-on international experience in public health, allowing Brooklyn College students to engage in real-world global health initiatives through ICAP at Columbia University. Participants will contribute to impactful projects, collaborate with experts, and develop skills in health program implementation. Students from Brooklyn College with a strong interest in public health, global health, and international development are strongly encouraged to apply.

Program Details

  • One-week Public Health Bootcamp: June 1-5, 2026—includes training on public health basics, global health research, and travel safety.
  • 10-week International Internship: Summer 2026—placement at ICAP-supported sites in Sub-Saharan Africa, Central-Asia, or Latin America.
  • Mentorship: Support from in-country and New York-based mentors, alongside peer collaboration with Columbia University students.

Eligibility

  • Matriculated undergraduate or graduate student at Brooklyn College
  • Interest and coursework related to public health or global health
  • Valid passport and ability to travel internationally

FAQ

Is financial support Available?

Yes, Brooklyn College provides financial support to all interns. Funding includes:

  • Roundtrip airfare: $3,200 stipend
  • Accommodations: Up to $1,500 per month
  • Living expenses: $500 per week
  • Miscellaneous costs: Coverage for visa runs, health services, and related travel costs

Transportation and catering are also provided during the one-week Public Health Bootcamp.

 

When is the application deadline?

All application components are due Sunday, April 26, 2026, by 11:59 p.m.

 

When will I be notified about acceptance?

Only qualified applicants will be contacted for an interview.

Notifications for interviews will be sent in early May 2026.

Final decisions will be made by early May 2026.

Accepted students will receive an offer letter via email.

 

When will the internship begin?

The internship begins with a mandatory Public Health Bootcamp June 1-5, 2026.

Individual internship start dates will follow, based on the student’s availability and project requirements, typically during the summer.

 

What is the duration of the internship?

The program includes a 10-week internship as part of its structure.

Students are expected to engage fully during this period.
