New York State Educator Certification
To receive New York State educator certification, School of Education students must complete the following requirements. These steps may be completed in any order.
How to Obtain Certification
Create a TEACH Account
Establish a New York State TEACH account to apply for and track certification.
Complete Degree Requirements
Successfully complete the academic program and graduation requirements associated with your certification area.
Pass Required Certification Exams
Complete all applicable New York State certification examinations for your teaching or professional certification area.
Complete Mandated Workshops
Fulfill all New York State required workshops before Brooklyn College can recommend you for certification.
Apply for NYS Certification
Submit your certification application through the TEACH system and follow Brooklyn College guidance for your certification title.
Monitor Your Certification Status
Regularly review your TEACH account to track application progress and complete any additional requirements.
